Invest — early, working title

The core, pointed at capital.

The models being pointed at markets today are very good at telling you what was written about a company. That is the least valuable part of the work, and it is the only part prediction can do. What replaces it is the least settled thing here, and this page will not pretend otherwise.

Allocating is deciding, not describing.

A next-token model does not decide. It produces the most plausible-sounding paragraph about a situation and hands the deciding back to you, which was the part that was hard.

Everything past that sentence is open. This direction comes last of the four and it will be shaped by the people who allocate for a living, not by us guessing at their week.

02 · The texture of the problem — figures, not features

Order and chaos, one hairline apart. Telling which side a number came from is the entire job.

Terms, tiers and commitments are not set. They will be written with the first partner rather than published at one.

What this is not.

  • A fund.

Not a broker either, and not an offer of any security or interest in one.

  • Advice.

Nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell anything.

  • A track record.

No claim of returns, backtested or otherwise. There is no product to have one.

  • A name.

“Invest” is what we call the direction internally, and it will almost certainly change.

  • A subscription.

When there is something here it will be licensed, under terms written with the partner.

  • A capability list.

The list has not been decided, and inventing one would be the worst thing we could do here.

If you allocate for a living.

The question worth asking us is which decision in your process is hardest to defend afterwards. That is the one worth pointing this at, and it is what we want to hear about before we build anything.
